About this event in the Jura in Syam
An Italian-inspired villa in Syam
Just a few minutes from Champagnole, the château de Syam is also known as the “Villa Palladienne”. Built in 1818 for Emmanuel Jobez, the ironmaster of the nearby forges, this residence evokes Italy without leaving the Jura: it was built in the spirit of the Italian villas of the master Andréa Palladio.
Listed as a Monument Historique, the property was bought more than twenty years ago by a couple from the Jura. Its architecture, period furnishings and tree-filled grounds are all there to discover during your visit. Both its name and its architectural inspiration thus retain a link to Italian villas.
Two ways to visit
The Villa Palladienne can be explored on a guided or audio-guided tour lasting around 1 hour 30 minutes. Tickets are available online or on site, so you can choose either way to buy them.
Opening hours
The site is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 2pm to 6pm. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
