About this event in the Jura in Salins-les-Bains
Vaslav : identities on stage
At the Salle Notre Dame in Salins-les-Bains, Olivier Normand presents a flamboyant, extravagant solo cabaret theatre performance. This heavenly, humorous recital features a cabaret creature exploring the porous boundaries of identity, amid make-up, glitter, iconic songs and popular music.
Vaslav de Folleterre is a fantastical figure: a parody of the literature teacher Olivier Normand might have become. Instead, the artist chose to work at Madame Arthur's cabaret, described as a haven of freedom for young Parisians. This contrast gives rise to a magnetic solo show, in which identities become material for performance.
Voices and repertoires intertwine
The spellbinding drone of a shruti box accompanies this cross-disciplinary musical journey. Olivier Normand summons and interweaves the spectres of Barbara, Grace Jones and David Bowie. Schubert's melancholy meets the energy of West Side Story and Michel Legrand's soaring melodies: genres and eras jostle together.
From baritone to countertenor, the artist moves nimbly between registers. The stage becomes a laboratory for performances of fluid identities. From farewells to rhinestones to the fury of a Bizet aria, Vaslav celebrates a poetic androgyny. Fantasy and emotion sketch a liberated humanity in a moment of pure freedom.

Les Scènes du Jura : thirty years of collective endeavour
Les Scènes du Jura is organising this event. Founded in 1996 through the coming together of the two Italian-style municipal theatres in Dole and Lons-le-Saunier, the organisation grew out of a desire to develop a strong cultural presence throughout the department.
Its history is one of gentle expansion, shaped by shared determination, places and convictions. The founding pact between two municipal teams was followed by support from multiple partners, now bringing together no fewer than thirteen local authorities. In 2013, the State recognised this approach by awarding the organisation the “Scène nationale” designation.
This collective ambition continues to be embodied in people and personalities, mandates and commitments. Thirty years of cultural policy have been built action by action, institution by institution, with one conviction: artistic creation, presentation and education belong to everyone in Jura, from town centres to small towns and the most remote villages.
This dream made reality is something to remember and celebrate together throughout a season… of surprises!
