About this event in the Jura in Salins-les-Bains
In search of salt water
At La Grande Saline in Salins-les-Bains, The White Gold Rush invites children aged 6 to 11 to explore the wells in search of salt water. This fun guided trail reveals the secrets of producing white gold.
From evaporation to salt workers’ techniques
The trail is followed by an evaporation demonstration using salt water to explain how salt crystallises. A workshop then allows children to recreate the techniques of former salt workers using miniature tools. The activity thus combines exploring the wells, understanding crystallisation and recreating these techniques.
Dates and duration
The activity is offered on 21/10 and 28/10. It lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and is for children aged 6 to 11.
