About this event in the Jura in Poligny
Dance, circus, music. All ages. 1 hour. With the bookshop la Fruitière des livres present. In a hypnotic world blending strength and delicacy, two acrobat-dancers and their wheels tell of the oscillations of time through dizzying movement. A virtuoso creation combining dance, circus and music, where instability creates balance.
Choreographed by Yan Raballand, this poetic performance features Rémy Bénard and Pierre Bertrand, circus artists who manoeuvre two Cyr wheels, performing movements inside them to express a thousand variations on balance. They are accompanied by cellist and composer Guillaume Bongiraud, playing La Folia, popular music from the 16th century.
A true ballet of curves and counter-curves, the show plays with unison, displacement and counterpoint, speaking to us of our relationship with time, cycles and brotherhood. Defying gravity, escaping imbalance while constantly brushing against it, the performers' bodies and the metal merge in a fascinating perpetual motion, where sensations of weight and elevation leave a poetic imprint through the wheels' inertia and the pure emotion of circus movement.
As part of this anniversary season for Les Scènes du Jura, Guillaume Bongiraud will extend the performance with a bespoke instrumental set... sure to take you close to the angels, beneath the spring skies of this final tour of the area. Booking available at the offices of L'Office de Tourisme Arbois Poligny Salins Coeur du Jura.
Organiser: Les Scènes du Jura. Founded in 1996 by bringing together the two Italian-style municipal theatres in Dole and Lons-le-Saunier, with the aim of developing a strong cultural organisation reaching across the entire department, the story of Les Scènes du Jura resembles a gentle conquest: one of shared determination, places and convictions.
From a founding pact between two municipal teams to multi-partner support from no fewer than thirteen local authorities today, via state recognition in 2013 with its designation as a ‘Scène nationale’, a collective ambition has been, and continues to be, embodied in people and personalities, mandates and commitments.
Thirty years of cultural policy built act by act, institution by institution, and driven by the conviction that artistic creation, presentation and education belong to everyone in the Jura, from town centres to the most remote small towns and villages… here is a dream come true that deserves to be remembered and celebrated together throughout a season…
full of surprises! Other dates in May: Saint-Amour Esplanade de la Chevalerie Tuesday 25
