About this event in the Jura in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux
An igloo dream put to the test in the tundra
La Sittelle, in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux, is hosting a screening and discussion on the theme of Life in the Wild on Saturday 5 December 2026 at 8pm. On the programme: “Le Vagabond et l'Iglou”, a 50-minute documentary directed by Tashunka Baptiste Dulaar and Sofia Tchigirova. A discussion with Tashunka Baptiste Dulaar accompanies the screening.
The film follows an adventurer who travels far from his wife and their children to pursue a dream: to build an igloo in the tundra and live for a month by fishing beneath the ice. With his pockets almost empty, he manages to hitchhike to Swedish Lapland and the Fjell.
An expedition far removed from the imagined scenario
Once in the tundra, nothing, or almost nothing, goes to plan. The documentary recounts this picaresque expedition, as well as the adventurer's reflections on life and his love of the Far North.
In a society described as obsessed with success and perfection, this story embraces failure. It presents failures as a path towards humility and freedom, rather than the fulfilment of the original plan.
Meet the writer-adventurer
Since 2012, Tashunka Baptiste Dulaar has travelled across the wild expanses of Siberia and Lapland. He travels alone or with others, entirely self-sufficiently.
His long, deeply committed immersions lie on the boundary between experiencing primitive life and wandering. For him, they are above all a way of reconnecting with the living world and caring for it. The discussion offers an opportunity to meet this writer-adventurer and talk about the film.
Price and booking
The price is €5. Booking is required for the screening through the Tourist Office on 03 84 60 15 25.
