About this event in the Jura in Lons-le-Saunier
From medieval recipes to illumination
Making your own colours before creating an illuminated artwork: that is the process offered by the “Pigments & illuminations” workshop at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lons-le-Saunier. During the school holidays, this practical session introduces curious young minds to an approach to artistic creation that is both hands-on and historical.
Participants begin by making their own colours and inks using traditional recipes from the Middle Ages. They then use this preparation to create their own personalised illuminated artwork. Working with pigments and inks thus comes before each participant’s creation.
A workshop for ages 7 and over
The session is open to children aged 7 and over. It takes place on Tuesday 20 October 2026, from 2.30pm to 4pm, at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, on Place Philibert de Chalon in Lons-le-Saunier.
Price and compulsory booking
The activity costs €4. Booking with the museum is required to take part.
This activity is part of the autumn school holiday programme. You can also explore the rest of the programme for other family outings in the Jura.
