At the Musée de la Lunette, “The Intelligence of the Hand” challenges preconceptions about manual trades and their present-day reality.
About this event in the Jura in Hauts de Bienne
Beyond “golden hands”
At the Musée de la Lunette in Hauts de Bienne, the new temporary exhibition “The Intelligence of the Hand” examines perceptions of manual trades. Its starting point is a familiar French expression: “to have golden hands”, used to describe expertise and dexterity in a manual activity.
But is this expression enough to convey what these trades involve? The exhibition explores the question of manual intelligence through the creativity, ingenuity and technical skill that embody today's manual trades.
Changing perceptions of manual trades
The aim is to dismantle certain ideas that no longer reflect their reality. By challenging these perceptions, “The Intelligence of the Hand” seeks to change the way these trades of the future are seen.
