Transforming existing buildings: a round-table discussion in Pont-de-Poitte
How are existing buildings finding new uses in the Jura? For National Architecture Days, the CAUE du Jura is offering a day combining visits to three building conversions in the Jura with a round-table discussion. The discussion follows on from the visits, exploring the projects and the challenges of adapting existing buildings.
Three conversions presented by their architects
The tour explores three transformations, each presented and discussed by the architects who carried it out:
- In Lac-des-Rouges-Truites, a former barn converted into a home by Antoine Devaux.
- In Foncine-le-Haut, a former sawmill turned into a multi-service hub and a micro-hydroelectric power station by the practice AD+ Architectes Designer Associés.
- In Pont-de-Poitte, the refurbishment of a municipal building by the practice Reichardt-Ferreux architectes.
A discussion open to those not taking the tour
After these three visits, the day continues with a round-table discussion devoted to transforming existing buildings in the Jura. You do not need to have taken part in the tour to join the discussion: it is open to everyone, including those who simply wish to discover the projects presented during the afternoon and the challenges of adapting existing buildings.
Different perspectives on buildings and places
Stéphane Écarnot, director of the CAUE du Jura, chairs the round-table discussion. It brings together Antoine Devaux, AD+ Architectes Designer Associés and Reichardt-Ferreux architectes, alongside professionals, elected representatives, residents and people from all walks of life.
This discussion brings together different perspectives and experiences of refurbishment and new uses for existing buildings. It also explores, more broadly, the transformations taking place in our local areas.
The event concludes with an opportunity to socialise.
