A new school year that puts teachers to the test
Les Baladins present “N’en profs’ itez pas !” at Espace Lamartine in Hauts de Bienne. The story is set at “Chantal Goya” secondary school at the start of the school year. The summer holidays clearly haven't done the pupils' knowledge any favours, much to their history and geography teacher's dismay.
But the difficulties aren't confined to the pupils. In the staffroom, tensions are already running high, and relationships between colleagues promise no respite.
Clashing personalities
The long-standing “vegan–carnivore” conflict between the maths and biology teachers shows no sign of easing. Two new arrivals won't help matters: a completely idiotic new PE teacher and an art teacher who sees art where there is none.
Amid these disagreements, a French teacher orchestrates proceedings. His dubious lifestyle and life in a campervan put him at the opposite end of the spectrum from Ingrid, the affected German teacher. The contrasts between the teachers add fuel to an already tense situation.
One memo too many
As though he still finds the atmosphere a little too bland, the head of pastoral care decides to add some utterly absurd memos to the mix. For these highly strung teachers, this is what makes everything explode.
The staffroom becomes a ring where anything goes. This start to the school year and confrontation between colleagues form the basis of Les Baladins' performance.
