About this event in the Jura in Premanon
Three men, a station beneath the snow
The Monday film at the Espace des Mondes Polaires in Premanon is “L’Odyssée antarctique” by Djamel TAHI. It looks back at an extraordinary adventure that began in 1956, when three men occupied Charcot Station, a 24 m² hut buried beneath the snow in Antarctica.
A year with no possibility of relief
Alone and isolated from the world for an entire year, they have no possibility of being relieved. In these conditions, they carry out ambitious scientific programmes in an attempt to unravel the mysteries of the icy continent. The last surviving witnesses recall this adventure.
