About this event in the Jura in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux
Florence GRIFFOND at Le Grenier Fort
Le Grenier Fort bookshop in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux welcomes Florence GRIFFOND for a meeting with readers. A journalist and writer, she will present “Mes pas dans les leurs”, published by éditions Gunten. Released in June 2026, this novel is her first published book.
During the event, the author will also screen some of the documents discovered during her research. The book presentation will thus make room for documents she found while tracing her family's history.
From reporting to her Haut-Jura roots
A senior reporter in the France 2 newsroom in Paris for more than twenty years, Florence GRIFFOND travels around France meeting people who are rarely seen. Her reports give a voice to ordinary women and men, telling the stories of their lives, their difficulties and their successes.
Before her career in journalism, she grew up in the Haut-Jura. Her roots remain in this land of fir trees, lakes and waterfalls, to which she remains attached as though she had never left. With “Mes pas dans les leurs”, she follows in her ancestors' footsteps.
Everyday life for the people of Grandvaux in the 20th century
At the intersection of novel and narrative account, the book explores the everyday lives of the people of Grandvaux throughout the 20th century. It focuses particularly on the periods of the First and Second World Wars.
To tell these life stories, Florence GRIFFOND undertook rigorous research. Her investigations took her from the attic of the family home to the departmental archives in Lons-Le-Saunier. She also gathered the rich memories of several residents of Saint-Laurent-En-Grandvaux.
This investigation takes the form of a diary: that of Louise, born in Saint-Laurent in 1876. The research journey and the form of the narrative thus come together around this voice, through which the everyday history evoked in the book is revealed.
Words at the heart of the family
Florence GRIFFOND approaches the people who inhabit these pages with great sensitivity. Through them, she recalls the place of words within the family, whether passed on or left unspoken. This attention to both words and silences accompanies the account of her ancestors.
The biographical presentation is taken from a text copied from the MAN Editions - Gunten website, October 2026.
