About this event in the Jura in Poligny
From the ghosts of Dacca to the Sundarbans jungle
With “Invisible Stories”, Compagnie Graine de Vie presents a puppet show at the Chapelle de la Congrégation in Poligny. Lasting 1 hour, it is intended for audiences aged 9 and over.
The story begins with a study: two Bangladeshi scientists are trying to understand the impact of Bengal's ghosts on traffic in Dacca. They think they have a firm grasp of their subject. Yet the ghosts suddenly come to life, turning their research into a phantasmagorical journey.
The two scientists are then swept far away from the megacity, to the Sundarbans jungle, the world's largest mangrove forest. This journey will turn their lives upside down: the ghosts are no longer merely a subject of study, but become the ones drawing them into the adventure.
Body puppets and physical theatre
Laurie Cannac's surprising body puppets combine with the physical theatre of a Bangladeshi actor-dancer whom she directs. From flights of fancy to shivers, this encounter leads into a surreal world infused with invigorating animism.
The show brings the most ancestral beliefs into contact with the most contemporary dilemmas. In this world, these beliefs seem to have been passed down solely to answer the questions of the present. The story thus raises a question: what if we learnt to listen to ghosts again?
