The collegiate church of Saint-Hippolyte, dating from the 15th century, is among the discoveries on this route, with its remarkable collection of Burgundian statues. The route also passes the remains of the ramparts of the former Château de Grimont: another way to explore the town's fortified past.
The winegrowers' quarter of Charcigny, the caveau des Jacobins and the cour des Ursulines complete this town tour. Along the narrow streets, old fountains, including the Sirène fountain, also bear witness to its rich history.
An immersive introduction to Comté
The second part of the excursion takes place at Maison du Comté. Opened in 2021 on the outskirts of Poligny, this interpretation centre features contemporary architecture inspired by traditional Haut-Jura farmhouses.
Inside, the visitor route offers an immersive journey devoted to this iconic Jura cheese with Protected Designation of Origin (AOP) status. Evocative films and animated models accompany the experience. The visit focuses in particular on the key techniques used in making, storing and maturing the cheese: a series of stages that introduce cheese-making culture after the town's heritage.
A convivial tasting rounds off the visit. It takes place in a glass-walled room overlooking the tree-filled park, extending the sensory discovery of Comté.
