About this event in the Jura in Poligny
Two brothers confront the bonds of childhood
What still unites Martin and Benoit Fournier today? They are brothers: that is all, and it is already too much. Now adults, they still bear the indelible marks of their childhood, but also of its unfulfilled promises.
With ‘Cowboy or Indian?’, Groupe Déjà returns to the question of family, this time taking sibling relationships as its subject. The show is presented at Chapelle de la Congrégation, in Poligny.
Between alliances and conflicts
Relationships between brothers and sisters allow for every kind of alliance and conflict. Through the two Fournier brothers, this theatrical panorama seeks out the fine line separating love from hate, quarrels from closeness. It brings together emotion and idiocy, absurdity and biting humour, tenderness and cruelty.
At the heart of the play lies a question: how and why do we remain ‘brothers’ when everything seems to divide the adults we have become? Despite everything brothers and sisters can throw in one another's faces, why are estrangements not more common? The sibling bond, with all its contradictions, is the subject of this new exploration of family by Groupe Déjà.
