About this event in the Jura in Lons-le-Saunier
The medieval table through children’s eyes
During the holidays, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lons-le-Saunier offers “Set the table!”, a children’s workshop combining history and creativity. The activity explores the world of medieval dining, taking Guillaume de Vienne’s ceremonial table as its starting point.
Observe, prepare, then taste
The workshop has three stages
- find the out-of-place items hidden on Guillaume de Vienne’s ceremonial table;
- prepare homemade hypocras using grape juice and spices;
- finish with a tasting.
Exploring the medieval table thus leads on to making a drink and then tasting it. The search for out-of-place items and the preparation of hypocras bring together the historical, creative and playful elements promised by this activity.
